Three years after the anime’s conclusion and eight years since the last game, Koei Tecmo’s Attack on Titan 3 was announced with a trailer at Summer Game Fest 2026. The new title will cover the entire story of Hajime Isayama’s manga, letting players witness the fall of Wall Maria and fight through to the series’ climactic final battle.

Recreating the whole saga also revives one of anime’s most divisive debates: the manga’s finale. When the story concluded in 2021, fans split into camps—some viewing Eren’s fate as a tragic culmination, others calling it rushed and undermining character arcs. Criticism focused on Eren’s motivations, his relationship with Mikasa, and the finale’s revelations about fate and free will.

The anime’s final arc, however, was generally received more positively; many felt MAPPA’s adaptation improved pacing, dialogue, and emotional presentation without changing the plot.
