Assassin’s Creed Shadows gets final update and new epilogue

On June 16, Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed Shadows update 1.1.11, Black Tides, which the company says is the game’s last free update. It adds a new epilogue questline for protagonists Naoe and Yasuke that involves Templars, Assassins, Isu artifacts, and connections to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and the upcoming Black Flag Resynced.

I played through the new questline, which took about three hours, and enjoyed it. Black Tides introduces two new Templar characters who belong to the Black Cross, an elite division previously referenced only in the books and comics. Their presence underscores how much Naoe and Yasuke have disrupted Templar plans and hints that something important may reside in Japan.

An item appears during the questline that fans of Black Flag might recognize. The update gives the Templars a fuller role, which raises the story’s stakes, and adds a Modern Day Rift that connects directly to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, due to launch in July.
