Arsenal have been urged to be ruthless in the transfer market after their Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. The Premier League winners lost 4-3 on penalties in Budapest, a result that has prompted suggestions of fresh reinforcements and questions over whether Viktor Gyokeres needs upgrading.

Martin Keown identified the frontline as the main area for improvement and said on TNT Sports that Arsenal “may look again at the striker” after a difficult night for Gyokeres, adding: “Maybe left-wing as well. Mikel Arteta will strengthen, there’s no doubt about that.” Kai Havertz started the final but his fitness issues have limited him to seven Premier League starts this season.

Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard echoed calls for more depth. “You need more than one top striker, you might even need more than two,” he said, arguing clubs must keep refreshing a squad that played 63 games this season. Gyokeres, signed for £64m last summer, has had a mixed debut campaign and was dropped for the final.
