Arrival (2016), Denis Villeneuve's acclaimed alien film, has been added to Pluto TV as part of the service's June update. The movie stars Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker and Michael Stuhlbarg. Adams plays linguist Louise Banks, who must help humans communicate with extraterrestrials after giant vessels appear around the world; when the doors open nothing happens until she changes her approach and begins to make progress, discovering her role is more important than she first thought.

Based on Ted Chiang's novella Story of Your Life and adapted by Eric Heisserer, Arrival marked Villeneuve's major entry into science fiction. He blended thoughtful genre concepts with emotional drama, producing a film that emphasizes our humanity and the sacrifices people are willing to make for love rather than a purely technical exercise.

Paramount released Arrival on November 11, 2016; it grossed more than $203 million against a $47 million production budget and earned a 94% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes.
