Embark Studios is adding a PvE "safe zone" mode to the Chinese version of Arc Raiders, a change shown on the game's Chinese website and shared via fan translations. In that mode players are friendly by default, though anyone can defect and will be marked as a traitor with a red highlight.

The announcement has stirred strong reactions from the wider community, where many players say they would like an option to opt out of PvP.
