Apple's remake of a 1991 Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro classic made an immediate impact on streaming, entering the U.S. Top 10 at #6 after its first day on the platform, per Flix Patrol. The series is based on the novel The Executioners by John D. MacDonald and reimagines the 1962 film that starred Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum.

Starring Javier Bardem, Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson, Cape Fear follows Tom and Anna Bowden, a wealthy attorney couple in Savannah, Georgia, who are terrorized by Max Cady, the psychopath Anna sent to prison 17 years earlier. As Cady inserts himself into their lives, the story shifts into a mystery about a dark secret the Bowdens are hiding.

The first two episodes premiered on June 5 and the show has already overtaken Star City, a sci‑fi spin-off that also debuted that day; Star City’s flagship, For All Mankind, currently holds the #3 spot on Apple TV following its Season 5 finale a week ago. While Star City enjoyed early interest, it has struggled to gain traction as Cape Fear climbs the charts.
