When Neuromancer arrives on Apple TV, it will mark more than six years since a live-action cyberpunk series aired. Expectations are high for the adaptation of William Gibson’s novel, which aims to fill the gap left by earlier streaming efforts. Netflix’s Altered Carbon was the most prominent recent attempt at live-action cyberpunk, running two seasons and introducing concepts such as “sleeves” and “meths.” Its first season was widely praised for capturing the genre’s pulpy noir and visual ambition, but Season 2 struggled to follow, and the show was canceled months after that release.

Apple’s Neuromancer is slated for late 2026 and has so far only offered a brief teaser. The story follows Case (Callum Turner), whose connection to the matrix is severed after a failed theft, and his recruitment by Molly (Briana Middleton) for a globe-trotting heist led by Armitage (Mark Strong).

The novel was long considered unadaptable, but this production represents another major attempt.
