Apple TV has officially renewed Widow's Bay for a second season, with one episode remaining in the ten-episode debut run. The first season follows Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys) as he attempts to turn the island of Widow's Bay into a vacation destination to rival Martha's Vineyard.

After what seems to be an earthquake, locals warn that this is just the beginning of a terror about to unfold, and Tom works to uncover the truth behind the island's folklore. The 30-minute episodes blend absurd comedy with otherworldly creepiness, drawing comparisons to Twin Peaks, and each installment has delivered a different type of terror—from ghosts and zombies to sea hags and masked murderers.

Creator and showrunner Katie Dippold teased the tone of the next season: "Season 2 is about how everything is great on the island and there’s nothing to worry about." Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV, said the series "has become one of those shows everyone’s talking about," and the streamer is eager to return for another season.
