Anthony Head and partner Sarah Fisher died months apart
Anthony Head, the actor best known as Rupert Giles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, died on Friday at age 72 of "complications due to pneumonia." His longtime partner, Sarah Fisher, died suddenly on Jan. 1 at age 61, their daughters Emily and Daisy said in a Facebook post at the time, calling her loss "immensely shocking to us all" and saying "no words could ever express all that she encompassed." The couple lived in Bath, England, where Fisher ran Tilley Farm, a sanctuary for rescued horses, ponies and donkeys.
They had been together since 1982 after meeting backstage at the National Theatre during a run of Danton's Death. Head said Fisher had no desire to marry — "She just isn’t interested [in getting married]. She says f–k off and then runs off to throw up," he told the Daily Telegraph in 2018 — but added he considered himself "married" to her and could not imagine life without her.
Head credited Fisher's encouragement for much of his success, saying she told him to "stick it out" in the early days.
