Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle in a deal worth up to €80 million. The 25-year-old has committed to a five-year contract that runs until 2031 after flying to Barcelona to complete a medical. The move was announced on Friday afternoon following a four-hour delay caused by paperwork.

The transfer will see Barcelona pay €70m up front, with a further €10m in add-ons. Just days earlier Gordon had appeared to be heading to Bayern Munich to reunite with Harry Kane, but the Bundesliga champions were reluctant to meet Newcastle's asking price. Deco's trip to England, and the presence of Lamine Yamal and Hansi Flick, helped turn Gordon's head, Mundo Deportivo said.

ChronicleLive says Newcastle sporting director Ross Wilson negotiated clauses to maximise profit, including up to €1m per season if Gordon features in 60% of fixtures — potentially adding €5m — and a further €5m tied to trophies, while Everton will receive a 15% sell-on fee.
