Monaco have triggered the €11 million purchase option in Ansu Fati's loan, making the Spain international a permanent member of the Ligue 1 club, Mundo Deportivo says. The move brings an end to Fati's Barcelona career after a season in the principality. Once regarded as one of Barcelona's brightest talents, the academy graduate struggled to fulfil his early promise because of a series of injury setbacks that disrupted his development.

Barcelona will receive an immediate €11m transfer fee. Fati had restructured his contract, spreading his remaining earnings and leaving the club with an annual gross cost of about €8.6m until 2028. Removing those obligations is expected to free roughly €17.2m in gross salary expenditure across the next two seasons, strengthening the club's financial position and providing greater flexibility in squad planning.

Combined with other exits and revenue measures, the €11m fee and €17.2m in salary savings move Barcelona closer to operating under La Liga's 1:1 spending rule.
