Rockstar Games revealed details about the upcoming open-world title and set the price at $80. Analysts David Cole of DFC Intelligence and Serkan Toto of Kantan Games said that price was expected; Toto added that while $100 had been considered possible, it would probably be too high.

Cole called the absence of a physical disc the biggest surprise, though he does not expect it to greatly affect sales. Estimates for launch sales vary. Cole puts day-one sales, mostly pre-orders, at about 25 million, while Toto believes 30 million units should be possible.

For context, GTA 5 sold 11 million copies on its first day in 2013. Experts are less certain about long-term performance. GTA 5 went on to sell almost 230 million copies over 13 years, and Cole says GTA 6 may be stronger upfront but whether it can match that remarkable lifespan is an open question, noting a limited installed base at launch and that GTA 5 accumulated much of its sales as it reached new platforms and PC.
