Amy Smart says 'Crank' trilogy talks 'died' after long silence
Jason Statham has been a mainstay of the action genre for years, often appearing in fast, breakneck thrillers. One of his most extreme series remains Crank, which pushed the limits of what could be depicted in an action film. In 2006's Crank Statham played Chev Chelios, a man who awakens to find he has been poisoned and discovers that only adrenaline slows the toxin, sending him on a frantic quest for revenge.
Against the odds Chev survives, and Crank: High Voltage continued his outlandish journey. Talks of a third film to complete the trilogy have circulated for nearly two decades, but Amy Smart, who played Chev's girlfriend Eve, said those conversations "kind of died." When asked about a third film by Collider, Smart admitted, "I remember hearing that too, and then it kind of died.
