AMD has confirmed a return of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D with AM4 10-year anniversary packaging. The updated model, which the company dubs the "return of the king", ships with a Carbice ice pad, carries a $349 MSRP, and keeps eight cores with 96 MB of 3D V-Cache while remaining compatible with DDR4 memory.

For builders avoiding AM5 or DDR5, the $349 price sits below many current second-hand listings but still feels high for an older chip, a reflection of the ongoing memory market issues. The anniversary edition will be available from June 25. Alongside that release, AMD is introducing the Ryzen 7 7700X3D: an eight-core, 120W AM5 chip with 16 threads, 104 MB of cache, up to a 4.5 GHz boost clock, and a $329 MSRP.

It arrives July 16, but with a 500 MHz drop from the 7800X3D— which is only tens of dollars more at roughly $370—its positioning looks challenging. MSRP availability remains uncertain, but the company says it will support AM5 through 2029.
