AMC’s eight-part dark comedy The Audacity, created by former Succession writer Jonathan Glatzer, satirizes the tech industry much like Succession did for media empires. The series centers on Hypergenosis and its eccentric CEO Duncan Park (Billy Magnussen), a temperamental, argumentative figure who has developed a breakthrough in tracking individualized information that could attract major clients.

Duncan confides in his therapist JoAnne Felder (Sarah Goldberg), who carries a troubled private life of her own, including a strained marriage to Gary (Paul Adelstein) and a son, Orson (Everett Blunck), with severe health issues. JoAnne also counsels Carl Bardolph (Zach Galifianakis), whose approval Duncan desperately seeks, creating a tense trio of relationships built on missed calls, insufficient sessions, and unresolved arguments.

The show interrogates the ethical grey zone of mining personal data while its characters focus on public relations and legal battles that could hinder the company’s growth.
