Amazon Says It Has 'Great Relationship' With 007 First Light Devs
Amazon said it has a "great relationship" with IO Interactive and praised what the studio accomplished on 007 First Light, a game that has sold over 1.5 million copies and is earning strong reviews. The clarification follows comments from Amazon Game Studios boss Jeff Gattis, who noted First Light was greenlit before Amazon acquired MGM and the Bond license and was self-published by IOI.
Gattis also said the team "didn’t have the full rights to this First Light James Bond game" and that future sequels would be "done by MGM and, theoretically, by Amazon Game Studios." Those remarks prompted online assumptions that Amazon would take over development of the next Bond game and that IOI might be sidelined.
