Alyssa Thompson has enjoyed an electric start to life in London after moving from Angel City to Chelsea. The 21-year-old finished her debut season as Chelsea's second-highest scorer with nine goals and says she quickly surpassed the targets she set on arrival. "I feel like I did a lot better than I thought I would," Thompson said.

Chelsea, however, fell short of the standards associated with the club, slipping to third in the Women's Super League and falling short in the Champions League, losing 3-2 on aggregate to Arsenal in the quarter-finals. "As a team, we left a lot that we wanted this season on the table," Thompson said.

"That's not what Chelsea is about as a club. We have always won a lot of trophies, and being top of the league is something that's really important." She believes the season's setbacks strengthened the squad. "We had a lot of adversity, and I think we leaned on each other a lot," she said.
