Alienware's 39-inch 5K2K RGB-stripe OLED may be the gaming monitor endgame
Alienware has introduced the AW3926QW, a 39-inch OLED 5K2K display with an RGB stripe that emerged as a Computex highlight. It follows an earlier 39-inch 5K2K model from LG, the Ultragear 45GX950A, which disappointed in practice despite promising form factor benefits.
Multiple reports suggest the AW3926QW could arrive with a $1,099 MSRP, a significant step down from the Ultragear’s roughly $2,000 launch price (currently about $1,700). Although the Alienware uses an LG WOLED panel, it isn’t the same variant found in the Ultragear.
The LG Ultragear added a white subpixel to boost peak luminance but introduced downsides such as slightly fuzzy font rendering and less vibrant colours. That model also featured an aggressive 800R curve, which many found excessive. The AW3926QW is rated at 300 nits full-screen and 1,300 nits peak HDR, putting it in line with current RGB Samsung QD-OLEDs.
