Alien Isolation 2's stormy colony steals the show
After playing the prologue of Alien: Isolation 2 at Summer Game Fest, the most striking element wasn’t the Xenomorph but the sequel’s new setting: a storm-ravaged, Earth-like colony world. Much of the demo still takes place in a familiar location—a crashed Weyland-Yutani vessel—but the prospect of facing a Xeno in dense, natural terrain felt refreshingly different.
The opening puts players on a transport headed for Kurosaki Station, where an unnamed protagonist, a driver and a worker called Otto investigate a mysterious vessel that has crash-landed. A devastating rainstorm arrives as they begin to search; Otto and the protagonist want to salvage goods and look for survivors, while the driver objects and threatens to leave them behind if they aren’t back before the storm moves in.
Exploring in the pouring rain emphasizes vulnerability in a wooded environment, giving the game a Predator-like feel at times.
