At Summer Game Fest, developer Creative Assembly and publisher Sega offered the first substantial look at Alien: Isolation 2 and confirmed the horror sequel is in the works. The team did not share a release date.

Creative Assembly revealed development had begun in 2024 to mark the original game's 10-year anniversary. The studio went quiet afterward, which the developers framed as a consequence of having a game to make; earlier this year Sega released a brief teaser to reassure fans the project was not dead and hinted that more news might be coming.

The original Alien: Isolation, released in 2014, was a standout horror experience that forced players to sneak through a space station while avoiding killer androids, mercenaries and a relentless Xenomorph.

I loved the original game, even if it made me nearly break my controller when I dropped it from fear one night. I’m excited to play Alien: Isolation 2 when it arrives next year, and I’ll make sure to hold onto my controller more tightly this time.
