Alan Jackson says unpaid fees prompted his exit from Reiner murder case
Alan Jackson, Nick Reiner’s former attorney, says he quit the murder case because he was not paid the amount he had been promised. Jackson outlined his explanation in a declaration filed Monday with Reiner’s petition seeking access to a $1.5 million trust fund and said he would be ready to return to the defence if funding becomes available.
Jackson says he was asked to join the criminal case on the day Reiner was arrested and was assured by a family representative and family members, including siblings Jake and Romy, that they would act as third‑party payors. He says he immediately began evaluating the matter, took part in planning conferences and directed his firm to spend money on the defence.
He claims he learned in late December that none of the anticipated third‑party funding would be provided and therefore withdrew, saying he would not have committed those firm resources had he known.
