At the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con panel for Adventure Time's final season, the cast and crew performed live versions of the show's songs. Rebecca Sugar pulled out a ukulele to play "Time Adventure," and you can see John DiMaggio wipe a tear as she sang — a moment that felt like the end of an era for millions of Adventure Time fans.

DiMaggio, speaking about the new spinoff Side Quests, joked that "I'm just angry that I embarrassed myself in front of all those people," and made clear he welcomes the revival: "I'm thrilled," he says. "I'm thoroughly enjoying it." He also praised Sasha Knight, the 17-year-old voice actor taking over Finn's role: "Sasha's just doing such a fantastic job.

And we're getting the band back together, dude. It's just great." The series never entirely disappeared. After a brief break, the franchise returned with streaming spinoffs: Distant Lands in 2020 and 2021 expanded character stories, including one about Finn's eventual death and his reunion with Jake in the Land of the Dead, and 2023 brought Fionna and Cake.
