Adapt the Chronicles of the Avatar novels for animation
Avatar: The Last Airbender remains a singular series, and its sequels, spinoffs and adaptations have generally failed to match the original's reception. Avatar Studios, formed in 2021, has yet to officially release anything; its first project, the film Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, leaked online and drew lukewarm reactions, touching off debate about studio politics and the ethics of media consumption.
A natural next step is the Chronicles of the Avatar novel series. F.C. Yee launched the books in 2019 with The Rise of Kyoshi, followed by The Shadow of Kyoshi, The Dawn of Yang Chen and The Legacy of Yang Chen. Randy Ribay then continued the line with The Reckoning of Roku (2024) and The Awakening of Roku (2025), and he has signed on for at least one more installment.
The novels chronicle predecessors to Aang, set before the 100-Year War in largely pre-industrial eras, and they dig into political and social climates while delivering vivid action and memorable ensembles.
