Adam McKay Gives Updates on Step Brothers and Talladega Nights Sequels
Adam McKay has offered one of the clearest updates yet on possible follow-ups to Step Brothers and Talladega Nights, and on whether he and Will Ferrell might work together again. Their partnership produced Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Step Brothers and The Other Guys.
McKay said he hasn't ruled out another collaboration. "I totally have been open to the idea. We always got along great, we were tremendous creative partners. The only thing that caused acrimony between us was when we decided to end our production company, Gary Sanchez." He explained the split became difficult as the company grew, and that Ferrell enjoyed the creative results while McKay remained more invested in producing.
On sequels, McKay revealed Step Brothers came closest: "Yes. But not as seriously as 'Step Brothers.' For 'Step Brothers,' we had a whole treatment written and worked out." By contrast, the Talladega Nights follow-up never progressed as far.
