Acer Nitro V 16S with RTX 5070 drops below $1,000 for Prime Day

An unexpectedly strong Prime Day gaming laptop deal has appeared before the official event: Best Buy is listing the Acer Nitro V 16S with an RTX 5070 for just under $1,000. Prime Day officially starts June 23, but several retailers have already launched their own sales.

The Nitro V 16S is the slim 'S' version, and its chassis and cooling limit the RTX 5070 to 85 W. That power cap means it won't reach the peak performance seen in thicker machines, but it should still deliver decent frame rates on the native 2880 x 1620 display if you use DLSS and Frame Generation.

Inside is an AMD Ryzen 260, a rebadged Ryzen 7 8845H Hawk Point Zen 4 chip with eight cores and 16 threads, paired with 16 GB of DDR5 memory. The RAM may constrain seriously memory-intensive workloads, and storage is limited to a 512 GB SSD—now common at the more affordable end of the gaming laptop market as RAM and SSD prices have risen.
