Warner Bros. and DC continue expanding Batman on screen. Batman — Part II is slated for 2027 and The Brave and the Bold remains in development, while Prime Video's Batman: Caped Crusader returns for Season 2 on Jul. 31 and an animated trilogy titled Batman: Knightfall begins in 2026.

Now another animated project based on a recent best-selling comic is in production. DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation announced at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival an animated adaptation of Absolute Batman. Writer Scott Snyder and artist Nick Dragotta will be involved: Snyder will serve as executive producer and showrunner, and Dragotta as a producer.

No release window was revealed. Absolute Batman is part of DC's Absolute line, which reimagines popular characters with contemporary origin stories where superheroes are underdogs in a world ruled by evil. The story strips Bruce Wayne of his wealth and casts him as a 24-year-old blue-collar worker who grew up in Crime Alley and makes his own gear.
