Aaron Taylor-Johnson Goes Feral in Trailer for Werwulf
Focus Features has released the first trailer for Robert Eggers' gothic horror Werwulf, offering a glimpse of a 13th-century village terrorized by a bloodthirsty beast. The footage, first shown at CinemaCon, invites viewers to "embrace" the darkness as it teases the nightmare set to unfold this December.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson appears as the man afflicted by an ancient curse. The teaser builds to a gnarly climax: a violent, convulsing transformation that twists into the titular creature. Images stitch together blazing fires, skull-riddled graves, bloodied corpses, and fleeting figures in fog-shrouded woods, establishing a stark, primal tone.
Focus Features bills Werwulf as a "harrowing tale of devotion, damnation and the devil within," and describes it as Eggers' darkest and most visceral project to date. The official logline reads: "In 13th-century England, a mysterious creature stalks a foggy countryside as local folklore becomes a terrifying reality for the villagers." Werwulf is scheduled to open in theaters on Dec.
