A Minecraft Movie Squared to add new biomes, characters and Matt Berry

During Minecraft Live Jack Black said, "We're so excited to be back in beautiful New Zealand shooting the sequel to A Minecraft Movie," adding there is "a lot of new in this movie and a massive team hard at work taking this production to the next level." He introduced Matt Berry as "the newest addition to our Minecraft family." Berry previously played the villager Nitwit in the first film, but he could be taking on a larger role this time—possibly the mysterious Herobrine—after being handed a jumper similar to the one Jack Black wore while playing Steve, though he might simply play another Steve.

Actress Danielle Brooke, who played Dawn in A Minecraft Movie, said, "we are taking you so much deeper into the Minecraft world. New biomes, new characters and new mobs along with some of my favourites." The event also showed concept art, including cute cubed polar bears.

The showcase announced a build contest tied to the sequel.
