Every day for the past few weeks I’ve been blasting through the highways of Tokyo in Forza Horizon 6, and while a wheel-and-pedals setup would be ideal, I make do with a controller. The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 I’ve been using is currently a fraction under $43 on Amazon, though that price applies only to the white version.

The controller packs a lot into a compact package: tunnelling magnetoresistance (TMR) thumbsticks and Hall effect triggers for precise input and no risk of stick drift, plus extra shoulder and back buttons to expand control options. When you’re done, the pad drops into its charging base and will automatically shut off.

If you need it quickly it will power up and reconnect to your gaming PC within a second. In my review last year I liked the features and general usability but found the plastics a bit cheap, the stick caps sore on my thumbs, and the triggers lacking resistance.
