666 Park Avenue: the short-lived supernatural mystery
In 2012 ABC aired 666 Park Avenue, a supernatural horror series set at The Drake, an Upper East Side apartment building where residents can be granted any wish but at a price. The cast included Terry O'Quinn, Vanessa Williams and Rachael Taylor.
Before the pilot aired the show drew criticism from a group called One Million Moms, and ABC cancelled the series after several episodes. The early end prompted questions about whether the protest or the series failing to meet expectations was to blame.
ABC had placed the series in a prominent Sunday lineup announced during its upfronts, moving Revenge to Sundays to get a lead-in from Once Upon a Time, with Revenge then leading into 666 Park Avenue.
The network may have seen promise in the talent attached: Lost alum O'Quinn and Ugly Betty star Williams were familiar ABC names, while Taylor had recently guest-starred on Grey's Anatomy and co-headlined a Charlie's Angels remake that failed to deliver.
