5 shows everyone is watching this summer — and you should too

Widow's Bay, starring Matthew Rhys, is an AppleTV+ horror-comedy set on a charming island that just happens to be cursed. The show balances laughs and scares and has become a word-of-mouth sensation; Guillermo del Toro wrote on X: "#WidowsBay may very well be the best streaming series in a long time… and hands down one of the most mesmerizing acts of narrative prestidigitation in Horror." Where to watch: AppleTV+.

Produced by the Duffer Brothers, The Boroughs is a sci-fi adventure built around members of a retirement community who must step up as unlikely heroes against a mysterious threat. The cast includes Alfred Molina, Bill Pullman, Alfre Woodard and Geena Davis, and while the plot can feel a bit shaggy, the creatures and mysteries keep it fun.

Where to watch: Netflix. Off Campus is a warm, charming hockey romance on Prime Video that follows Hannah Wells (Ella Bright) as she agrees to “fake date” campus star Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli); fake feelings eventually turn real.
