Terminator 2: Judgment Day, the 1991 R-rated, 130-minute action film steeped in cyberpunk elements, is streaming free on Pluto TV as part of the June update. James Cameron’s sequel cost $102 million, making it one of the most expensive films of its time, and it went on to gross over $520 million, becoming the most successful movie that year and cementing the director’s status.

Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton, the film was critically acclaimed on release and is considered one of the most important entries in the genre, with visual effects that still look great. Set more than a decade after 1984’s The Terminator, the story finds Sarah Connor confined to a mental institution while her son John lives with foster parents.

Skynet sends a more advanced Terminator to kill John, and humans send a reprogrammed Terminator back to protect him; together John and his guardian fight to rescue his mother and try to prevent Skynet from destroying the world.
