1666: Amsterdam dev apologizes for AI in prologue demo
Panache Digital Games, the studio led by Patrice Desilets, apologized after AI-generated assets appeared in the prologue demo for its action-adventure 1666: Amsterdam. The studio said a team of over a dozen artists reviewed the assets and found early versions had slipped into the prologue, including in-game portraits and external marketing assets.
Panache added it will update the demo soon with human-made versions and that the Early Access and full game will not include any assets generated by AI. The prologue followed the game's trailer at Summer Game Fest, which had drawn attention for its horror-tinged, witchcraft themes; the demo's reception suffered amid suspicions of AI use, a concern the studio confirmed.
