15 minutes is all you need in this roguelike action RPG
A dozen roguelike action RPGs appear on Steam every month, but Cursemark stood out for me. The game's early access build, which launched today, already lets you stack runes and clear rooms of monsters in roughly 15 minutes, and developer Clyde Games says it will add more content over the coming months.
Cursemark shares DNA with Clyde Games' previous title Into the Necrovale—pixel art, skeletons, and hundreds of unique items—but plays closer to a soulslike with dodge rolls and tanky foes. Basic spells can be upgraded with runes that boost damage, size, or apply status effects; in one run I layered so many fireball runes that the battlefield was almost obscured by trailing flames.
That spectacle is fun, but the growing visual clutter can make it hard to read incoming attacks, a rough edge that could use attention in early access. You can swap runes at any time to experiment with builds, and the hub character offers elemental spell schools to unlock permanently.
