Pcgamer's Character Select column gathered staff writers to name videogame art they love, with pieces discussed ranging from Dishonored's cityscapes to concept work for Destiny, Elden Ring and Avowed. Sean Martin pointed to Dishonored's Dunwall and Karnaca and credited Viktor Antonov's city concepts, alongside character portraits by Cedric Peyraverney, Sergey Kolesov, Piotr Jablonski and Veronique Meignaud.

Rory Norris described Destiny's early concept art — including Old Chicago scenes, Dorje Bellbrook's pyramid-ship armada and Jesse van Dijk's incomprehensible Vex architecture — and said much of that concept work didn't fully translate into the live game. Tyler Colp praised FromSoftware's art books for matching the finished Elden Ring, citing spreads of Raya Lucaria and Volcano Manor and character depictions such as Malenia and Ranni, while Ted Litchfield highlighted Obsidian's Avowed for translating Pillars-style art into first-person play and for its comic-book loading illustrations of areas like Thirdborn.

The column does not declare a single winner and will return to its regular format next week, and writers invited readers to share their favourites in the comments.
