A public battle over Kadokawa's leadership has put FromSoftware's future at stake. Though often associated with Sony or Bandai Namco, 70% of FromSoftware is owned by Kadokawa Corporation. Oasis Management, which holds 13.76% of Kadokawa's shares, published a June 7 letter urging shareholders to vote against CEO Takeshi Natsuno ahead of the company's annual meeting on June 24.

Oasis argues Kadokawa is leaving money on the table and calls FromSoftware its biggest asset. The investor, known for a 2014 suggestion that Nintendo might charge $0.99 to make Mario jump higher, wants Kadokawa to "fully maximize" its portfolio. "The path forward should be clear," Oasis wrote, urging a narrower publishing slate, broader genre exposure, deeper investment in scalable titles, strengthened author and creator development, accelerated digital and international distribution, and clear, measurable KPIs.
