Wardogs looks like Battlefield with a persistent economy
Wardogs pits 100 players divided into three teams in constant combat. The game pairs that scale of firefights with a persistent in-game economy: each action that helps your team earns cash you can spend in your next life or even a later match. A trailer shown at the PC Gaming Show leans on Battlefield-style blasting; one sequence shows a single player on the ground taking out three helicopters with a launcher.
It’s the sort of footage that might make players think twice about boarding a helicopter. The persistent economy is the feature to watch. If it delivers meaningful meta-progression, it could add tension to moment-to-moment gunplay; handled poorly, players with more cash could gain persistent advantages through better weapons, vehicles and opportunities.
Bulkhead Studios has said "Wardogs isn't a game made for everyone, instead it's a grounded hardcore shooter that doesn't forget it's a game," and is running playtests you can sign up for via the QR code in the trailer.
