The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake Is Real, Out This Year
The rumors were true: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is being fully remade for Nintendo Switch 2 and is due sometime this year. The trailer offered very little beyond a voiceover laying out the opening premise—Hyrule, a small forest on the kingdom’s edge, the Kokiri and their fairies, and one boy without a fairy—followed by young Link waking as the Triforce mark appears on his hand and a logo reveal.
At a glance the new art style seems closer to Twilight Princess than recent Zelda entries. Questions remain about whether combat, camera and targeting will be overhauled, whether Navi will be the same level of irritating, and if the remake will be an aggressively faithful rework or take liberties and add new elements.
Fans are already wondering if Majora’s Mask might be next. A full remake is a tall order: Ocarina of Time is widely regarded as one of the greatest games of all time, so everyone will have strong opinions on the direction Nintendo takes.
