The Four Seasons finale gives Anne a hopeful new start
Tina Fey's comedy The Four Seasons returns in Season 2, continuing from the Season 1 cliffhanger of Nick's death and following a longtime group of friends as they navigate dramatic life changes.
Anne has often been the show's most tragic figure: her husband of 25 years left her for another woman, flashbacks reveal Nick's pattern of cheating and she chose to stay, and then his death deepened her struggles. Season 2 also puts her under suspicion for withholding money meant for Nick's unborn child, even as she helps Ginny raise Nick's son.
The finale's last five minutes shift Anne's trajectory. After a Christmas trip to Italy and Ginny's encouragement, she decides to stay there, escaping the role of perpetual victim. A brief appearance by David Tennant as Gianpiero introduces a possible new romance.
The season closes on a more hopeful note for Anne, although another season to follow her new path is not yet guaranteed.
