Kotaku reports that Tale of Two Wastelands — a mod that combines the world maps of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas — won’t be ported to the long‑rumored remasters of those games.

The modding team told supporters in their Discord that producing a version of TTW compatible with the remasters “would be a mammoth effort and would require an entire rebuild of the project.” TTW overhauls both games to create a cohesive experience, rebalancing gameplay, altering the level cap and perks, restoring cut content, and supporting over 1,200 companion mods via its own Nexus tag. Community excitement for remasters has been heightened in part by the success of Fallout season 2 on Prime, but past remasters have shown limited support for legacy mods — Bethesda said Oblivion Remastered “mods are not officially supported” at release, and the original 2006 Oblivion has about ten times the number of Nexus mods as that remaster.

The report says TTW will likely remain tied to the older releases, and whether Bethesda will make stronger efforts to support legacy mods in the upcoming Fallout remasters is unknown; some mod projects may be too large in scope to be ported. Fans hoping for ports of grand conversion mods may have to accept that reality unless developer support changes.
