Polygon reports 2026 is a tremendously big year for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is scheduled to open in theaters on May 22, 2026, and animated projects Maul: Shadow Lord and Visions Presents — The Ninth Jedi are expected to debut on Disney Plus sometime in 2026. The Mandalorian and Grogu, directed by Jon Favreau and produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni, will follow Din Djarin and Grogu dealing with Imperial warlords as they try to help a fledgling New Republic and will introduce characters such as Colonel Ward (Sigourney Weaver) and Zeb Orrelios (Steve Blum).

Favreau has confirmed that season 4 of The Mandalorian will not be happening after scripts for a fourth season were repurposed for the film. Maul: Shadow Lord is an animated series that will see Sam Witwer reprise Maul as the ex‑Sith seeks to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire, and Production I.G’s animated spinoff The Ninth Jedi is also slated for a 2026 release window.

Looking beyond 2026, Lucasfilm plans a limited theatrical re‑release of the original Star Wars on Feb. 19, 2027, and Shawn Levy’s Starfighter is set for May 28, 2027, with Ryan Gosling and Matt Smith among the cast.
