Spider-Verse creators are returning to 21 Jump Street for 24 Jump Street
It has been 12 years since 22 Jump Street, and Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s R-rated reboot is poised to continue. Lord and Miller, along with stars Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and Ice Cube, appear ready to make good on the sequel’s post-credits gag. Variety names Rodney Rothman — co-writer and co-director of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse — to direct 24 Jump Street, which is now in the works.
Rothman wrote the script with Hill and Meghan Malloy, while Lord and Miller are set to produce. Producer Neil H. Moritz posted a picture of the script on Instagram with the tagline: "It took so long we had to skip one," explaining the absence of a 23 Jump Street.
The franchise has long played with its numbering: the original title referred both to an undercover program and the street address of the headquarters, and 22 Jump Street explained a move "across the street." The end credits of 22 Jump Street teased a long list of sequels and spinoffs — and even hinted the next film might be set in Russia.
