Spain claimed their first win of the 2026 World Cup with a 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia. Lamine Yamal returned to the line-up and slid in at the back post to finish Mikel Oyarzabal’s drilled cross, and Oyarzabal added two close-range finishes around the midway point of the first half.

The visitors might have seen a hat-trick after Oyarzabal’s outside-of-the-foot attempt struck the crossbar, but the scoring was sealed early in the second half when Hassan Al Tambakti’s deflection followed Marc Cucurella’s volley that had been saved. Yamal and Oyarzabal were withdrawn with the points secure as Spain continued to press.

Substitutions slowed the tempo, though Spain still threatened late: Pedro Porro had a powerful shot saved, Ferran Torres missed a gilt-edged chance and a stoppage-time tap-in was ruled out by VAR for offside. The result left La Roja on four points from their opening two Group H games after a goalless draw with Cape Verde in their tournament opener.
