Space Invaders scratch-off pulled after $100,000 prize printing error
A new Indiana scratch-off featuring Space Invaders launched earlier this month. The Hoosier Lottery listed the odds of winning anything as 1 in 3, and players reported early prizes of $1,500 to $5,000. The top prize was a $100,000 payout limited to three tickets, but by midweek more than three people were trying to cash $100,000 tickets.
When hopeful players went to redeem those tickets they were told the cards had a printing error. The tickets were genuine, yet the printed winnings differed from the lottery commission’s official validation record; the lottery halted sales and opened an investigation.
One player, Mike Fields, was reportedly offered $20 instead of $100,000, and another player, Tyson Enochs, who bought many tickets after seeing a $100,000 result, says he is considering legal action. Players who believe they have won are being asked to call a special hotline, fill out a protest form, and mail tickets to the Hoosier Lottery for evaluation.
