Sega put Sonic’s DNA in a Chaos Emerald
This year marks the 35th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, and Sega has unveiled a life-sized statue the company says contains Sonic’s DNA, encapsulated within what it calls a Chaos Emerald. The announcement video was first spotted by PC Gamer.
The piece was created by Transeeds, described as "a science collective composed of artists, engineers, scientists and other members." Transeeds previously produced a "recreation" of Resident Evil’s T-virus that did not contain any actual virus.
The video claims Sonic’s DNA contains "Soinc biOS," "Emerald vision," "boost system," "velocity cells," and other Sonic-adjacent buzzwords. Transeeds also built a Chaos Emerald containment system that sits inside the statue, conjuring the mosquito in amber from Jurassic Park, and the exhibit will be on display at Sega Store Tokyo on June 23rd.
