Samsung 990 PRO SSD on Clearance at Nearly 40% Off
SSD prices have been volatile in 2026 as demand tied to AI lifted costs, but the Samsung 990 PRO is trending lower for now. The drive comes in 1TB, 2TB and 4TB sizes; last year they sold for roughly $100, $170 and $300 respectively. Prices spiked in January to about $320 for 1TB, $640 for 2TB and $1,100 for 4TB, and as of June they’ve eased to roughly $250, $390 and $949.
These changes might signal a market correction, or they could reflect a manufacturer inflating prices only to mark them down and advertise a large discount. The 990 PRO delivers strong performance—up to 7,450MB/s read and 6,900MB/s write—and suits tasks like analyzing large datasets, video editing, 3D modeling and gaming.
PlayStation 5 owners can expand their libraries with this drive, but a heatsink is required for console use. Samsung sells models with heatsinks bundled for $50 to $100 more than the non-heatsink versions, while a separate compatible heatsink runs about $10 to $15.
