The Moore's Law is Dead YouTube channel claims AMD's next‑generation Zen 6 desktop CPU will 'clock above 6.5 GHz', calling its clock speed information 'very high confidence' and '100%' confirmed. That would set a new record for factory‑spec PC processors.

Such a speed would exceed the 6.2 GHz boost achieved by the Intel Core i9-14900KS. AMD's current fastest desktop chips, the Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 9 9950X3D, top out at 5.7 GHz.

MLID links the potential to TSMC's N2 process. AMD has said its Zen 6 EPYC server CPUs will use N2, and if desktop Zen 6 also ships on N2 it would effectively skip N3 and move from an N5-class node straight to N2. That move could allow larger transistor budgets and more complex CPU designs.

The channel also claims a 12-core die for Zen 6, which on a dual‑die Ryzen configuration would add up to 24 cores. IPC gains are not yet known, but higher clock speeds combined with more cores could deliver a notable multi‑threaded uplift. Zen 6 is expected later this year.
