Robot Chicken parodies Adult Swim for its 25th anniversary
Robot Chicken is returning with two new specials that lampoon Adult Swim, creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich announced at the Annecy Festival. The stop-motion series, which launched on Adult Swim in 2005, has previously targeted big pop-culture properties with devoted specials for The Walking Dead, Star Wars and DC Comics.
Adult Swim began on Sept. 2, 2001 as a Cartoon Network block focused on adult animation, debuting with a three-hour lineup that included Cowboy Bebop, Sealab 2021 and Space Ghost Coast to Coast. The first of the new Robot Chicken specials, due in August, will mark Adult Swim’s 25th anniversary by sending up shows from across the block’s history, from Aqua Teen Hunger Force to Rick and Morty to My Adventures with Superman.
