Riz Ahmed stars in Prime Video's Bait and auditions for James Bond in first clip
Movieweb reports Prime Video released the first clip for Bait, a six-part series written by and starring Riz Ahmed as Shah Latif, a struggling actor who is given the opportunity to audition for the part of James Bond.
The clip showcases Latif's family reacting to headline-making news. Alongside Ahmed, the series features Guz Khan, Sheeba Chaddha, Aasiya Shah, Sajid Hasan, Ritu Arya and Werunche Opia. Bait will be available to stream globally on Prime Video starting March 25.
The show is being positioned within a recent wave of Hollywood meta-comedies, alongside Apple TV's The Studio, HBO's The Franchise and Marvel's Wonder Man. News of Ahmed's series first broke in July 2024 and filming began in September 2024; Amazon acquired a significant stake in MGM in 2021 and the studio took full control of the Bond property in February 2025. It is unclear whether Bait was conceived from the start as cross-promotion for Denis Villeneuve's upcoming reboot, and the series may draw comparisons or criticism depending on who is ultimately cast as 007.
