Reshine's cosy cleaning sim has gone into playtest
I had been waiting for weeks to be let into Reshine's playtest after seeing a short video that showed restoring an old trinket, and yesterday I finally got in. I downloaded it straight away and spent an hour happily tidying up three old, beloved items. The game is set in a cosy, slightly dusty attic studio with a workbench and all the tools needed to restore antiques and toys.
My first project was a heavily rusted butcher knife shaped like a fox; it was so corroded I couldn't tell what it was at first. I disassembled it, removed the nails from the handle to separate wood from metal, then set about dusting, sanding and polishing each part.
The cleaning itself is the highlight: slow, methodical work to remove grime, dust and rust. Some dirt comes off with a blast of air, while more ingrained marks need sharper, precise tools, and Reshine supplies the appropriate gadget for each task. After cleaning I applied a base coat to the wooden handle and a deep red overcoat for the fox's tail.
